I co-founded The Conjuncture with three other scholars. The Conjuncture is a cultural studies digital publication. We aim to facilitate a space for multimodal dialogue about cultural phenomena. Cultural Studies theorist Stuart Hall points out that each phenomenon is embedded with cultural codes, which often go unnoticed due to the saturation of ideology in our daily lives. We are particularly interested in unpacking these codes, noticing the unnoticed, questioning what has become common sense, and challenging what has been taken for granted in the world we live in. My task at The Conjuncture is editing and curating pitches and submissions related to popular culture and visual culture - I also do the creative direction of the publication.
For the creative direction, I utilised the origin of cultural studies in the UK. I explored designs inspired by the underground movements in the UK, particularly in London, and incorporated contemporary styles and local trends. I change the design look for every single publication roll but managed to still have that The Conjuncture signature look.
